Advocacy is the act or process of helping others. Our collective goal is to see that diabetes is cured and that until that time, that people with diabetes live as healthy and rich a life as possible. We each work to achieve that goal in different ways. You can help or find help through the following groups or activities:
- The Children with Diabetes Parent Task Force mailing list is for parents who want to offer their assistance and expertise in advocating for our children with diabetes. Our first goal is to work towards developing a national guideline for schools on how they allow our children -- i.e., their students -- to manage diabetes in and around school. Members of this mailing list will be asked to complete various tasks related to the topic at hand.
- ADA's Action Center offers information about federal and state legislation that needs your support.
- Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation advocacy groups works to gain funding for diabetes research and to pass laws to help people living with diabetes.
- The IDF's Unite for Diabetes campaign succeeded in getting a UN Resolution on Diabetes passed and continues to work to raise global awareness of diabetes and the need to work for a cure.
