About Rick Philbin

Rick Philbin, M.Ed., A.T.C., C.S.C.S. is a regional manager for Animas Corporation, an Insulin Infusion Pump Company. Prior to joining Animas, Rick managed a comprehensive sports medicine center, Metro Orthopedics & Sports Therapy in Silver Spring, Maryland. He is also a national presenter for Children with Diabetes. He is very active in diabetes as it relates to exercise. He has spearheaded an effort to bring a chapter of the Diabetes, Exercise, and Sports Association (DESA) to the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area and lectures frequently on exercise through these organizations. He is currently a national board member for DESA.

Rick received a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Athletic Training from Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania. He also has earned a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Sports Management from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, American College of Sports Medicine, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Rick's professional experience includes working as an Athletic Trainer for a Philadelphia-based sports medicine center, Pat Croce's Sports Physical Therapists, where he rehabilitated and conditioned professional athletes from the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers.

Currently at Animas, Rick manages a team of territory managers in the Northeast. He believes education is paramount for good diabetes management. As an avid exercise enthusiast with Type 1 diabetes, he practices tight management of his diabetes while on an insulin pump. His exercise passion is basketball and weight training.
